How to Verify a Turkish Supplier & Avoid Import Scams: 7-Point Checklist

January 26, 2026 · 5 min read

International trade fraud costs buyers billions annually. Almost every scam is preventable with basic verification — here's the checklist professionals use.

Red Flags 🚩

• Price 30%+ below every other quote • Demands 100% payment upfront • Refuses video calls or factory visits • Free email only (Gmail) with no company domain • Pressure tactics: "offer expires today" • No verifiable trade registry number

The 7-Point Verification Checklist

1. Ask for their Vergi No (Turkish tax number) and verify registration 2. Request their Chamber of Commerce certificate 3. Do a live video call from inside the factory 4. Ask for 2-3 references of past export customers 5. Start with a small trial order 6. Cap upfront payment at 30% for any new supplier 7. Book a third-party Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) before final payment

What Mall Of Türkiye Does

Every supplier on the platform is checked against the Turkish trade registry and screened for real operational activity before listing. Verification badges show which checks passed. This filters out the vast majority of bad actors before they ever reach you.

If Something Goes Wrong

Document everything immediately (messages, invoices, transfers). If the deal came through our platform, open a dispute — our team mediates directly with the supplier.
